Servers all up, v1.00 is live! ----- Now with Launch Trailer! Shame the game doesn't actually play like that... --- Spaceships. Not EVE spaceships. I'll be playing. I paid for this yesterday! It looks epic.
I still suck at flying but I managed to dock without bumping to much stuff today \o/
I played the disk version on an old BBC Model B when I was like 8 years old!

I'll have to keep an eye out for you, CMDR Skull! I only picked it up yesterday as well. I had bought the normal pre-order a few days ago, but I just couldn't wait any longer so paid the extra to get in early. What happens when you turn off almost all of your ships systems to make you as hard to detect as possible?  Also, I managed to borrow an Oculus Rift (the older DK1) to try elite out on. Oh my gosh. I don't even know how to start describing it, was seriously incredible. (Evening ignoring the fact you can't make out any text on the low resolution of the DK1.) It's going to continue reviving constant updates however, including at least two large paid-for expansions: landing on planets and walking around stations / ships and FPS elements. Also if you pre-order you can get the game cheaper, it will be going slightly up in price on release. |

Here's another thing. Those of you that have been around in EVE for a while (and by a while I'm talking since like, eve started) will know that sub-system targeting has been something talked about by devs since forever. Well guess what you can do in Elite?  Want to blast open the cargo hold of a hauler but don't have any limpet mines? Target the subsystem and blast it open with your guns. Gimbaled weapons will aim towards it, otherwise you'll have to point your fixed turrets at the right spot. And of course, shooting the top of a ship while the cargo hatch is on the bottom will not do much good. |
